Better facilities to SANJY pilgrims top priority for Tourism deptt: Secretary Tourism | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 05 (KNO): Secretary Tourism, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah on Monday said that all the arrangements are being put in place for the upcoming annual Amarnath yatra in Jammu & Kashmir and that ensuring better facilities to the pilgrims is the top priority for the Tourism department. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function at Basohli in Kathua district, Secretary Tourism said that all the arrangements are being put in place for the upcoming two-month-long Amarnath Yatra. “The Tourism Directorate will ensure better facilities to the people. It will take part in ensuring facilities to the pilgrims in base camps, langer and other places. To ensure better facilities to the pilgrims are the top priority for the directorate,” he said, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). About the recently held G-20 event in Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah told media persons, said that it is for the first time that an event of such a scale was held in J&K. “40 different countries participated in the event in which J&K was projected. The participants have appreciated J&K. They returned from Kashmir as the real ambassadors of J&K as there was a warm response from them,” he said. Moreover, Secretary Tourism has said that Basohli has been chosen by the central government under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and the place will come up as a major tourist attraction soon, which will help to boost the local economy and the local people should cooperate with the government in this initiative—(KNO)
